I'm having major problems with my blog, as you might guess from the vast void of nothingness that appears when you visit this page.
Guess that's part and parcel of this month. First, the root canal, then the front bumper that is ripped off by an errant curb bolt and now the nothingness-plagued blog.
Good thing Alexa will be baptized today. Maybe her impending purity can cleanse my prickly aura and balance will be restored to my problem-infested world.

Ah, baseball in the 1960s was terrific players like Harmon Killebrew, Rocky Colavito, Sandy Koufax, Al Kaline, Roberto Clemente, Ernie Banks, Jim Palmer, Willie Mays, the New York Mets in 1969, Mantle and Maris it just doesnt get any better than that (at least so my dad says). He remembers those years fondly, when baseball really was king. RIP, Harmon, you were one of the greatest.As for 1000 years from now, baseball and slim jims throw in hanger steak and it sounds pretty good to me. Wookie

Its really frustrating to read criticism or analysis that shows the writer hasnt considered things like narrative style or even something very basic like point-of-view. Theres also the problem that comes from the misconception that LOST has been a puzzle that can be solved if one only dug deep enough into the minutia while never realizing the limits of its usefulness (they are intended to tease or give thanks). Its that kind of all spectacle with no substance kind of analysis. Full of holes and platitudes, but it appeals to lazy thinkers or those who are intimidated.

Grew up watching games at Tiger Stadium (sadly, its an empty lot now), where if you were lucky enough to get Upper Deck Box Seats, you felt like you were on top of the field.Another old favorite is Olympia Stadium (where the Red Wings played until 1978). Like the old Chicago Stadium the Mezzanine and Balcony were almost straight up from the ice surface great intimate feel with lots of character.

I am all for adding a playmaking linebacker. You can never have enough linebackers and running a 3-4 only highlights that need. The Patriots have had good success using aging Linebackers in the past few seasons so why not take a page out of their book?

Lewis should have been playing. Hes more likely to get better than get worse, and hes already the 2nd (or 3rd if you count Uribe) hitter on the team. Randy Winn has the 2nd most PAs on our team. Schierholtz has been just as bad as Winn, but based on his minor league numbers and the fact that while Winn is old and most likely to get worse while Schierholtz is young and most likely to get better, he is clearly the better option. The bottom line is Winn should not have started a game in the 2nd half this year, with Lewis at the top of the pecking order and Schierholtz as a better option, as well. I was unhappy Torres got PT, Im still not convinced hes any good, but it worked out so I wont get worked up over it. Hell, maybe he should have been playing instead of Rowand. OF should have been Lewis + Rowand/Torres + Schierholtz/Torres, and theres absolutely no excuse for the way Bochys played what he has. Im also not sold on Velez, though I guess he has been producing at an acceptable level since he came back up so you could give him some PT in there somewhere (but not for Lewis, who is simply better).
