THIS IS WORTH IT, RIGHT?
I am writing this to the sound of my baby crying.
Don't think I'm mean: she's crying all the time now. If I didn't ignore it occasionally to pee or eat, I would explode and starve.
Last night, she literally cried from 3PM to 11PM. Non-stop.
No. I am serious.
I'm guessing she has colic. All the websites I've checked say there is no cure and it can go on for 3 months.
More later...I've detected the sound of exploding farts over her crying. This must be tended to...

I know you've probably gotten all the unwanted baby advice already. BUT here's more - swaddle your baby tightly, move her in a swinging motion, and loudly ssshhh into her ear closely. It works, at least for a little while without crying!

Our first daughter cried pretty much non stop for the first 5 months. Funny thing is I have a faint memory of that being an insanely impossible time in my life, but amazingly I don't remember much about it. We were staying with my parents at that time and I'll never forget the time my mother came upstairs a couple hours into the nightly crying and gave me this "let me show you how to soothe this child" look, an hour and a half of crying later she came out of the room with an exasparated look on her face as she handed her back shaking her head. At times, I had literally felt the rage faintly seep in and could empathize with the people that end up on the nightly news. You just need as much support as you can find and take turns and get away for a hour when you can. I remember how hard it was but somehow I realized it was still an easy trade off for the tiny perfect moments that will continually grace your life.
hang in there, it definitely gets better ;-)
P.S. I did find comfort in searching the internet and finding couples that were having the same problems so I knew that we weren't crazy or the worst parents on the planet.

My daughter did that. It was hell. I never slept. 6 months....
Longest stretch without more than 15 minutes of sleep at a time was 10 days.
No husband to help.
Yuck.
It will get better.
Try laying her on her belly across your lap and gently patting from midback up...and then from midback down.
If all else fails...Mylicon drops. And about 400 frantic calls to the pediatrician.

Thanks for the advice.
I've incorporated it all into my soothing routine. I'm counting on a 50 pound per day weight loss from all the bouncing, swaddling and shhshing reps I'll do daily.
I appreciate the been-there, done-that input...I can't get enough these days!!!
God willing, I'll make it through these trying days (now I know where Alexa gets her melodramatic tendencies!).

@Sharon: Thought-provoking stuff; thanks. When Im working ideas out for myself (rather than to send to someone else) I find it has a lot to do with my mood at the time. If Im struggling with a complex idea, Ill use Century Gothic because it feels calm and clear to me.

All I said is that there must be something OUTSIDE our dimensions. That doesnt mean there is nothing outside our dimensions. If you got that impression please quote that section and Ill correct it. Its not what I wish to convey. What I mean to convey is just that anything that is not in the 4D space that we call the physical world is called supernatural (or spirit). If you want to give it a different name, Im fine with that. I just think its odd that anyone uses the term redefining marriage. If we hadnt re-defined marriage before now, then blacks and whites would not be able to marry one another back in the day, marriage was defined at first as a union between a white man and a white woman, and then later to the union between a white man and a white woman, or a black man and a black woman. Only after multiple re-definitions of marriage did we come to what we have now.

I had cher tickets for Both the 4th and 5th of October. It wasnt until I got there Sat after having flown accross the country did i find out she had canceled the rest of the shows. and guess what people, I didnt have a fit! I worked at the Ramada Hotel OHare back in the late 80s. We were hosting a baseball card show and my ALL-TIME FAVORITE PLAYER IN THE WHOLE WORLD til this day came to do a signing - CARLTON FISK! I was a sales manager so I got to go behind the scenes. Before the show started I was in the banquet room where he was getting set and he was told to move his SUV. I was standing in close proximity to him so he looked, tossed me the keys and said, Here, move it for me. I told him I didnt want to be responsible if anything went wrong while I was driving so he had someone else move it.

Marriage has been defined for thousands of years by SOCIETY AS A WHOLE, not by government. One of the worst possible things that could happen would be to let government redefine marriage. If the corrupt politicians and communists can get away with that, then they can easily destroy the rest of our freedoms by simply redefining things when the normal legislative route becomes too slow for them. This is so fundamental that it shouldnt even be an issue. It just shows how far down the road to slavery we have already travelled. Well hes always King Caspian in this one. If your saying in his down time hes more like a Prince, I wouldnt agree. He wasnt very princely in Prince Caspian, except toward the end. A prince should act the same way as a king, but without the rank, and he was more like a boy in possession of the rank of Prince. Now hes like a king, honorable, a good leader, but still a real person. The Prince you see is really just Caspian being himself, not acting like he did in PC. I like his personal moments in VDT much more than in Prince Caspian, because he has matured more, and Barnes pulls off the acting so much better. Hopefully Im still making tangible sense! Im confusing myself!

Sorry, no more padding with I-AA teams or the Pac-10. (Don't get rid of rivalry week though). Sure, there might be some repeat games (Texas v. OSU, Ala. v. UGA) but who wouldn't want to see them fight again? People who are scared, that's who. This way, there'd only be a few extra games, and the season would still end before the second semester starts (which is why the season is what it is, NCAA rules say only one season per semester, except the BCS Naty Champ which is much $$$ the real pusher in NCAA sports).
