Especially on the web, my favourite font is generally not the typeface youve chosen, not at the size youve used, and [although this gets away from fonts] not in the layout/width youve defined. In print Im more of the Monty Burns school: I know what I hate and I dont hate this! I do find, though, that if a book or website includes a colophon then Ill generally appreciate the choices; I suspect its because anyone who takes the time to write up a blurb about why theyve made a particular choice has obviously put some thought into the final product.

Great post Pauline! Ive also been very intrigued by the Mitford sisters and the village of Swinbrook, and we visited there again this summer. Its such a tiny, quiet place. I recently re-read the book The Sisters about the Mitford sisters, partly because I like the connection to the Cotswolds but I also find the family story fascinating. Cant we at least put the new money back into its own account again? Would that be the congress that would do that? This movie is really funny. I complained watching this at firsthonestly, my wife wanted to see the film. I thought it would be adreadful Four Weddings and a Funeral indie. But right in I fell for themovie. I have been running for about 3 years now. I am 53, smoked 2 packs a day for 35 of those years, and weighed 245 pounds. I quit smoking, lost the weight and started running 3 years ago. I run about 6 days a week, for 6-15 miles, depending on my mood. I was so excited to run in the San Diego marathon. I was run over at the 9th mile and hurt my knee and my thigh muscle. I forced myself to finish this marathon, I ran (slowly) the whole way, and it took me 6 hours. I figured that I would run it normally in about 4:30. Finishing this marathon was the greatest feeling I have ever had. While it was disappointing to finish it in 6 hours, I did it. I think that it is incredible that anyone run for 4 hours straight, more so 6 hours. It does not matter the time, it is the path you took to get there. Yes, it is hard work and a lot of training, but if it takes someone 6 hours to run a marathon, good for them and me. Time does not matter as long as you run. I have since run several halfs, and am signed up again for the san diego Marathon. I look forward to all of my runs and train hard for them. I am running at Big Sur, also. I will never be fast, but I am faster than I was 3 years ago.

So, as I said, if Brown wins, the dumb & bad guys win overall. With that said, though, and if there was less at stake health care reform especially I would not terribly mind having someone like Brown win, but only for one reason: the Republican party has become this weird cesspool of anti-science, willfully ignorant, and utterly malicious right wingers, and having a more traditional Republican like Brown with a bread & butter philosophy of fiscal conservatism, having a strong military and promoting good business win in a state like Massachusetts might cause a shift overall in Republican politics from the fringe right to something less polarized and much more constructive. Even if only seen as an election tactic, that would still bring better balance to what Ive always considered the Demo-Republican (or Republocratic) two-party system in this country. The parties need to get along to get anything done, and they should bring their strengths to the table. Democrats (primarily liberals) tend to be like architects who come up with the new ideas, while Republicans (primarily conservatives) are more like the contractors and investors who should try to make those ideas practical and cost effective.
