I unceremoniously dumped my detox diet last night. I had six days to go and I gave in to pasta. However, I really felt it was time to let go of the gluten-free. I remained hungry all the time on this thing and because there wasn't much I could eat, I either ate nothing at all or a whole bag of sweet potato chips, then a whole bag of Taro chips, then a pint of Rice Dream.
Last night, I made chicken herb pasta with marinara sauce, garlic bread and steamed zucchini since my brother, his wife and son are staying with us for a few days, and I couldn't bring myself to eat just the zucchini. Plus, since I'm going to San Francisco this weekend, a dairy-free, wheat-free, caffeine-free, alcohol-free regimen just isn't in the cards, so why not blow it now.
In other news, it's been confirmed that my nephew Luke likes me the best out of all the Andersons, including my own father. It's already obvious that he shares my savvy intelligence and that we understand each other on a level most can't comprehend. Also, he sneezed right in my face a few times, this sealing our bond with saliva.

The term gay marriage is a lot like flying car. If pressed, one would argue that cars cant fly, so a car is not a flying automobile by definition. However, it is theoretically possible for a car to fly, so it is not entirely impossible. This idea that the term gay marriage is some kind of mind-bending oxymoron is just silly to me.it reeks of dishonesty.

When I said real marriage, I meant that even those who thought that interracial marriage was (morally) wrong because its bad to mix races, they still considered that it met the definition of marriage. By contrast, those Christians who oppose legal same sex marriage believe that the law is literally incorrect when it declares two men married, because such Christians believe that marriage is a divinely ordained institution that literally excludes same-sex unions by definition.

As an IT security professional I appreciate the difficult position the banks are in. It is difficult to get proper practices and user training implemented internally, much less upon external customers. No matter what criteria is set or methods used, if the customer gives it away then it is of no use. If you give them tokens and passcodes but they give them away to the thieves then they are of no use and you must bear that responsibility. If you limit it by IP address the theive just takes control of your computer to do it. My point is no matter where you set the bar, if the customer becomes the weak link then how much liability should the bank itself have to bear?

Was eating at BeauJos yesterday (mmmmm!) when a relative I was with said the owners of Nick-N-Willys lost their franchise. She did say that someone else was taking over and one of the owners will be staying with them for a while to make the transition smooth, so I am assuming they sold it. I then wondered why anyone would buy it if they arent making a profit. With this recession, how many folks are eating the more expensive pizza on a regular basis? I admit that I havent had Nick-N-Willys for over a year now but of course tried BeauJos because of the new novelty of it. They are both pricy pizzas and both delicious (much better than the standard chains) but we only enjoy them on special occasions. Tried Picasso Barn last summer and had the same thought: good enough but expensive. I actually prefer Nick-N-Willys so we havent been back. Now though, if we choose to eat pizza, I prefer BeauJos. For the price, the whole wheat crust is to die for and a better value. It is so dense, we got three meals (for two people) out of a 2 pounder. So, what will happen to the upscale pizza chains around here?

I love to hear about the positive stories of change and the work of God. I have a story to and have been in recovery for over twenty years now. Funny thing about McCracken, its in the middle of everything, but you never see people go in or out, and yet its always making noises, like theyre making stuff in there. Trucks drive up, disengorge their contents, and leave, but nothing ever comes out of McCracken. It should be filled up by now. You ever notice that the windows are all high up, and textured too, so that nobody can see whats in there? Where does all the stuff go? Something evil is afoot!

Americas second golden age wasnt killed off by Star Wars, the profits from which no doubt funded a fair few smaller, more personal projects by Fox in 78 and 79. If one film is responsible for ending the golden age, wouldnt it have been Heavens Gate (1980)? That catastrophe ruined an entire studio and legitimized far tighter control by producers over directors probably a good thing in the long run.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." Israel Educational TV offered this absolute gem of a series as a loop (re-running automatically) during a wintry Saturday this past weekend. It is absolutely brilliant and should be watched across the board by the entire financial industry. Amazing how the lack of knowledge of history has very often been the instigator of dramatic financial events. The use of clever footage techniques, even if repeated throughout the series, make it appealing and modern. The English is superb and the narration is as clear as source water!
